How To Use Astra GPT 6: Julian Goldie’s Full Course
Wondering how to use Astra GPT 6? Julian Goldie here — this is my full one-hour masterclass in written form, from the moment you get access to the point where it’s building apps, redesigning websites, generating videos, controlling your browser and running SEO routines in the cloud while your laptop’s closed. Astra has genuinely blown me away — I never expected to switch from Claude, but that day came. Here’s everything, including the usage-limit warning most tutorials skip.
Short answer
Access: ChatGPT Plus, Pro, Business and Enterprise, plus the API, Microsoft Azure and AWS Bedrock — then use it in ChatGPT or (my pick) the Codex app.
In the Codex app, choose Astra Light, Medium or Extra High — I stick to Medium for the best power-to-usage balance.
You prompt in plain English: describe, test, iterate. The only real human skill left is clearly defining what you want.
Warning from my own dashboard: I burned 44% of my weekly usage in two days — manage effort levels or the caps will manage you.
How to use Astra GPT 6: access and setup
First, the right plan: Astra rolled out to ChatGPT Plus, Pro, Business and Enterprise, plus the API, Azure and AWS Bedrock. You can use it inside ChatGPT itself, but my favourite home for real building is the Codex app — download it (desktop and mobile), log in, update if the model isn’t showing, and you’re in. The app has two modes: Chat for creating and exploring, Codex for actually building — for business work, live in Codex. In the model picker you’ll find Astra Light, Medium and Extra High: lower burns fewer tokens, higher thinks harder. Medium is my daily driver.
One setup decision matters more than people realise: local versus cloud projects. Local runs on your machine and is perfect when it’s just you. Cloud keeps running with the app closed and your laptop shut — my SEO automations live there, publishing content while I — genuinely — forgot the routine existed for two days. Rule of thumb: shutting the laptop but need it running? Cloud. And pin your active projects (right-click → pin) or you’ll be scrolling for them forever.
How to use Astra GPT 6 to build: apps, websites, images, videos, games
Building is plain English: create a project, describe what you want — “create a beautiful fitness tracking app designed for mobile” — and let it run while you start the next thing; Astra happily builds several projects in parallel. Every project follows the same three-stage rhythm: describe, test, iterate with feedback. My Agent OS dashboard took months of daily feedback loops; the 80/20 arrives in minutes, the polish is yours to demand.
The website truth nobody tells you: straight out of the box, designs look like ChatGPT built them. Two fixes from my course — give it a screenshot of a design you love (“create a beautiful website like this”), or install a design skill from GitHub such as UI/UX Pro Max and let that teach the agent taste. Add Supabase (free) when an app needs logins and stored data — Astra wires it in and even signs in for you. Images: Astra is the brain, Image 2.0 is its image skill — generate, then use: thumbnails, ad creative, or feed an image in and ask for a 3D game from it (we built a cat-racing game exactly that way, in the background, mid-course). Videos: install the free open-source ReMotion skill and Astra codes animated promos and full edited videos — pair it with an avatar API and you get talking-head videos, fully assembled.

Automation: computer use, cloud routines and the Agent OS
Computer use is where Astra pulled clearly ahead for me: with the ChatGPT Chrome extension connected, I asked it to write and publish a marketing post to my Skool community — it opened Chrome, navigated, personalised the copy from the sales page it read, formatted it and hit publish in about 90 seconds, better-written than most humans would manage. Cloud routines are the other half: scheduled tasks that run without the app open — mine generates SEO content for five websites daily at 7am. Honest boundary from my testing: routines suit API-and-connector work (publishing via Netlify, research, email drafts through the Gmail plugin), not computer-use tasks. Set approval levels deliberately too — full access, approve-for-me, or ask-every-time.
The limits, straight: Astra is capped weekly, and it is hungry. I’d used 44% of my week within two days of access — and community reports are harsher (one member watched a single debugging session eat 30% of a 5× plan’s week in minutes). Manage it: stay on Medium unless a task earns more, keep heavy loops on cheaper models, and build with Astra, then run what you built on lighter models.
The endgame is plugging it into a system: inside my Agent OS, Astra runs as the brain inside Hermes Agent — on my existing subscription, no API bill — alongside a model dropdown, daily research loops, and an Obsidian second brain my agents update automatically, so whatever model drops next inherits full context of everything I’ve built. That’s the difference between playing with a tool and running a system — the full setup lives in my Agent OS guide.
The bottom line on how to use Astra GPT 6
How to use Astra GPT 6, compressed: get on a qualifying plan, live in the Codex app on Medium, describe–test–iterate in plain English, teach it taste with screenshots and skills, push repeatable work into cloud routines, and respect the weekly cap like it’s a budget — because it is. It’s the most impressive model leap I’ve used; treat the limits as part of the workflow and it’ll out-build everything else on your desk. — Julian Goldie
FAQ: how to use astra gpt 6
How do I get access to Astra GPT 6?
Be on ChatGPT Plus, Pro, Business or Enterprise (or use the API, Azure or AWS Bedrock), then use it in ChatGPT or — better for building — the Codex app.
Which Astra setting should I use?
Light, Medium or Extra High are the choices — I stick to Medium: strong output without torching the weekly cap.
How do I make Astra’s designs look good?
Give it a screenshot of a design you love, or install a GitHub design skill like UI/UX Pro Max — out-of-the-box designs look generic.
What are cloud routines good for?
Scheduled work that runs with your laptop closed — my daily SEO publishing, research, connector tasks. Not suited to computer-use jobs.
How bad are the usage limits really?
Real: I used 44% of a week in two days, and heavier users report worse. Manage effort levels and offload built assets to lighter models.
Can I use Astra inside Hermes Agent?
Yes — on your existing subscription, no separate API bill, which is a big part of why I switched. My Astra + Hermes guide covers it.
